Meet Gayathri Kanumuri, the founder of NariCare. Her journey began with personal struggles in breastfeeding, marked by misinformation and overwhelming challenges as a new mom. Faced with myths and difficulties, she found that the right support transformed her experience, allowing her to breastfeed confidently and pain-free. Joining a community of fellow new mothers proved to be a game-changer.
From nearly giving up breastfeeding at three weeks postpartum, Gayathri now proudly nurtures her nearly four-year-old daughter. This journey ignited her passion to address a critical gap: the widespread lack of accurate breastfeeding information. Despite being one of the most profound gifts a mother can give her child, many women resort to formula feeding due to misconceptions and insufficient support.
At NariCare, Gayathri and her team are dedicated to transforming the breastfeeding experience for every mother. Their mission is clear: to dismantle myths, provide essential support, and empower mothers with the knowledge they need to succeed. Together, they aim to create a lasting impact, ensuring that every mother and baby thrive.

Gayathri’s challenges began after her hospital stay in 2020, where she faced unexpected difficulties with breastfeeding. Struggling with latching issues and painful, bleeding nipples, she was often left confused as her baby’s feeding sessions varied significantly. “It felt like I was starving my own child,” she reflects, recalling the self-doubt that plagued her. “New mothers are under immense pressure.”
Recognizing the shared struggles of many mothers, Gayathri launched NariCare to fill the void in breastfeeding support in India. After working as a software developer in Los Angeles, she returned to India after giving birth in 2021. Initially, she began helping mothers in her immediate circle, but quickly realized she wanted to create a broader impact.
Founded in 2022, NariCare, based in Visakhapatnam, offers one-on-one consultations with certified lactation consultants, comprehensive breastfeeding education, and a supportive community for mothers. Their programs also include follow-ups, nutrition support, postnatal yoga classes, pediatric consultations, and mental wellness support, with costs ranging from Rs 7,500 to Rs 39,500. So far, NariCare has positively impacted around 400 women across India.
The startup has also partnered with reputable brands like Spectra, Medela, Dr. Brown’s, and Comotomo to provide clients with essential breastfeeding products, including pumps and sterilizers. Through social media, NariCare raises awareness about breastfeeding, emphasizing that while the initial weeks may be challenging, with time, mothers gain confidence and proficiency.
Looking ahead, Gayathri envisions expanding NariCare’s offerings beyond breastfeeding support. “While our current focus is to assist mothers facing breastfeeding challenges, we aim to explore other areas of maternal health in the future,” she states.
NariCare is not just a business; it’s a movement to empower mothers, fostering a community where they can share experiences and find the support they deserve. With a strong commitment to education and compassion, Gayathri Kanumuri is making a significant difference in the lives of mothers across India.
