Rs 2 crore revenue in 10 months: How Bengaluru couple bounced back from a Rs 4 lakh loss to build a successful food truck business
Bengaluru couple Kushal Reddy and Chahak Jain turned a
failed cloud kitchen into a successful food truck business, showing how a
setback can become an opportunity.
The couple initially started a cloud kitchen in 2024, but struggled with high
delivery platform commissions, advertising costs and low orders. After facing
major losses, they decided to try a different business model.
They borrowed money from their parents, bought a truck and converted it into a
mobile kitchen. At the same time, they documented their journey on Instagram
through a series called “How to Start a Food Truck in Bengaluru.” Their content
gained attention even before the business launched.

A Rs 4 crore cloud kitchen loss
Kushal, who previously worked in HR, and Chahak, an interaction design
graduate, started their cloud kitchen after noticing an opportunity in the
fresh fried-food market. However, the business struggled and eventually shut
down.
Instead of giving up, they used what they had learned from the experience to
build a new food business around a food truck.
From Rs 4 crore loss to Rs 2 crore in 10 months
Their food truck, Kried, launched in JP Nagar in September 2025 and attracted
hundreds of customers from the beginning. The business focuses on burgers,
homemade buns, sausages, marinades, chicken snacks and fries.
Social media also played an important role in creating awareness. The food
truck eventually attracted around 350–450 customers a day and continued to
grow.
Bengaluru couple’s plans next
Between September 2025 and July 2026, Kried generated around ₹2 crore in
revenue and grew to a team of 13 employees.
The couple now plans to build a central kitchen and expand into the fast-casual
restaurant business, with plans for 2–3 outlets by 2027. Their journey shows
how changing the business model and learning from failure can create a new path
to success.
